Rock band Willet has announced that the producer for their sixth studio album is none other than Aaron Gillespie. In response to working with the guys, Aaron writes "I am not working with this band to make the next Willet record... I'm working with them to make THE WILLET RECORD."
Aaron Gillespie is the lead singer for the rock band The Almost and was a founding member, singer and drummer for the cutting edge metal legends Underoath. He also recently released his debut solo worshp record, Anthem Song, which debuted at #90 on the Billboard 200.
The EP, titled Red Sea is scheduled to release on April 3, 2012.
Below is a recent letter Jeremy Willet wrote to the fans...
"Over the past 3 years, I have been writing a collection of songs while on tour in the U.S., living in Haiti during the 2010 earthquake, and visiting communities in Africa. I am coming up on 15 years of writing, recording, and performing music, and I have never worked harder on a collection of songs than I have for Willet's new record.
In early 2011, I began working with my brother Justin (guitarist) on the songs from my home studio in Maryland during some time off the road. He had written over 50 guitar hooks and I had over 25 melodies/lyrics/basic chord structures, so we began to craft his parts with my chords, lyrics and melodies. In July of 2011, we took a break from our 150 city U.S. Tour and rented an old farmhouse on 100 acres of land in Western, PA to arrange the songs as a band for the first time. 4 days in seclusion allowed us to pour our hearts into new Willet songs that are without a doubt our best ever! I believe we have finally captured the passion, emotion, and sound that makes up Willet.
Willet as a band is going on 6 years as an independent band. What this means is that we do not have any funding from a major record label to produce a new record. We are DEPENDENT on YOU, our friends, to make this record a reality. Without YOU, these songs may never be heard.
Our prayer is that Jesus receives all the glory from this project. We are excited to be working with our friend, Aaron Gillespie to release the best songs that we've ever written. Thanks for being apart of the journey...
-Jeremy Willet, Lead singer of Willet
